The YouBelong Uganda team is a highly effective multidisciplinary team, working to strengthen the mental health system in Uganda through deinstitutionalization and early intervention strategies.
Guided by principles of human dignity and the deep human need to belong, we support women, men, and young people living with severe mental Illness transition from institutional care to their families and communities. Through different programs we support early intervention for the emotional and mental wellbeing of children in schools.
Leadership
- Chief Executive: an experienced social worker with a background in developing mental health policies and services
- Technical Director: a public health psychiatrist who also serves as a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist and Deputy Director at Butabika National Mental Referral Hospital
